Those who have been following us for the past 2-1/2 years know that our Vagabond Retirees lifestyle has come into fruition largely because of a fantastic company, Trusted Housesitters. We’ve completed 16 house sits through them now (on our 17th here in Scotland), and we’ve had the best time EVER!! So much so, that we’ve chosen to take on more assignments than originally planned, almost turning it in to a full-time gig. What started off as wanting to do enough assignments to cover 2 or 3 months a year, has ended up being about 42 weeks of sitting for 2017.
So, let’s get to the point of this post. Last week we were housesitting in Brighton, UK (a great, vibrant, lively beach city!), when we received this email (I’ve taken out names, email addresses but Geoff is the homeowner who we just left in Cornwall) from Trusted Housesitters.
Dear Linda and Mark,
We have heard at Trustedhousesitters that your currently in Brighton and that you have been travelling all over the world via the trustedhousesitters website.
Geoff came to us today to ask for us to set up your retrospective dates so they can leave you a glowing review and explained to me that you have committed to this for the last couple of years and we would love to hear from you as its always a pleasure to speak to people who have gained so much experience through us.
My colleague (removed by us), our social media representative asked me to give you her direct email address on the chance she can talk to you and even meet you while your in Brighton as we are also located here! Wow! We were flabbergasted to say the least! We emailed the Social Media Representative, and had to settle for a telephone chat instead of a face-to-face meeting. We were leaving that day for York, and she was finishing up her own housesitting assignment in London. She wanted to know all about our experiences, and mostly the “whys” behind our wanting to house and pet sit. Our primary reason for doing what we do is that we gain great satisfaction from helping people who want to go on holidays, alleviating the worry about what to do with their pets. They get to go away knowing that their fur and feathered family are being loved and cared for in their own homes, and we get to see the world, live like the locals, and get our fix of loving animals without having to pay for accommodations (the win/win for both parties).
So, by the end of our conversation, we were asked to be Ambassadors for Trusted Housesitters! What does this mean? Well, we will continue to do what we’ve been doing all along…singing their praises…only now we’ll have business cards that will enable us to represent the company on an official basis.
